24-HOUR PARTING PEOPLE

24-Hour Parting People was written, drawn and lettered in under 24 hours, as part of a global 24-Hour Comics Day. The book is made up of fourteen short stories on the nature of Love, and features Hondle, Duck with a Gun, Streetwalker (subsequently renamed "Newstreet"), Trouble Bruin, Able Seaman & Fishwife, Gavin, Mister Christian and much, much more - including a three page story on the joys of..ahem..."self-love."

The comic is a print edition of this webcomic, and is presented "as-is:" without any computer lettering or fancy shading. This preserves the off-the-cuff nature of the book, and affords the reader the chance to read what is essentially a live comicbook. Think of it as WaterCooler Comix: Unplugged.

Featuring a new front cover and an afterword, 24-Hour-Parting People is 28 pages of B&W comics love, and costs £1.00/US$2.00.

"Craig uses the same sort of format familiar from his earlier comics by using a number of short strips to build a greater whole. Here he unites the strips thematically rather that narratively.

"It’s a good tactic...and the whole reminds me of the drifting feel of Richard Linklater’s films Waking Life and Slacker. Like those films though, you’re unlikely to come away with any new insights into life.

"The constraints of the time limit means that he has abandoned formal layouts and employed a looser, more intuitive form. Surprisingly this works for the most part, and actually enhances the stream-of-consciousness feel of the title. The figure work is pretty much all over the place, but the characters are clearly designed, and Craig has a knack for including all the information necessary to tell his story."
