24-HOUR COMIC
The 24-Hour Comic arose from a challenge laid down by Comics scholar Scott McCloud. He suggested that it would be possible to write, draw and produce a print- or web-ready comicbook in 24 hours, and challenged people to prove him right.
So, without any preparation - no scripts or page layouts written or drawn beforehand - I sat down on the morning of the 24th of April to create the following comic. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed exhausting myself to make it.
(The reader should note that the comic was written and drawn off the cuff, so some of the lettering may be hard to read - especially since the art has been reduced from A4 size. I felt that to clean the art up, or to replace the hand-lettering with digital lettering would be cheating, and not in keeping with the spontaneous nature of the challenge)
"...the whole reminds me of the drifting feel of Richard Linklater’s films Waking Life and Slacker. Like those films though, you’re unlikely to come away with any new insights into life. The figure work is pretty much all over the place, but the characters are clearly designed, and Craig has a knack for including all the information necessary to tell his story." - Douglas Noble, TSR@BugPowder
